Amanda’s After Wedding Shoot

While I was shooting Amanda and Dave’s wedding at Zenith Vineyard about a month ago I set up the above picture. Amanda has done some modeling and I wanted to do a more edgy fashion look. Amanda liked the shots so much that she decided to book an after wedding shoot so we could spend some time getting additional shots of her in her wedding dress.

Mallory and Kevin’s Wedding at the Oregon Golf Club

Having shot recently at the Oregon Golf Club I really challenged myself to give Mallory and Kevin a look all their own for their wedding pictures. That meant we tried a few different locations. I was really happy with result.

Nicole and Travis’ Wedding at the Oregon Golf Club

Another day another great wedding. Nicole and Travis were married at one of my favorite Oregon wedding venues, the Oregon Golf Club. There are a lot of great shot opportunities there and a beautiful scenery with the connivence of being close to Portland. While the location was beautiful, nothing could compare to the smiles on Nicole and Travis’ faces the whole day.

Tara and Joe’s Wedding at the Ashland Springs Hotel

Being from Southern Oregon, I’ve been wanting to head south for a wedding. Â Tara and Joe’s ceremony gave me that chance.

We started of the day at the Waterstone Salon where there was a little adventure in putting on Tara’s veil.

Then two street performers walked by at just the right time to pose with Joe and the guys.

Then it was off to the Palm Room of the Ashland Springs Hotel to get ready. Â It is a beautiful venue with lots of natural light pouring in.

I love this picture. Â Sometimes brides and grooms decide to see each other before the ceremony so they can get pictures done ahead of time. Â I love that because it can help things go much more smoothly. Â However, capturing Joe’s expression when I saw Tara walking down the aisle for the first time that day…priceless.

Another great thing about this location is that Lithia Park is just a block away. We slipped over for some shots in a more natural setting.

And then the party began.

Kalli and Josh’s Wedding at The Crystal Ballroom in Portland

Lots of engagement sessions in June, means lots of weddings in July! Kalli and Josh’s wedding was the first time I got to shoot at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland. It’s such a great venue for a photographer because of the north facing windows that let in beautiful soft light throughout the ceremony.

We started out the day at the Deluxe Hotel and then played around PGE Park for some fun shots before heading to the Ballroom.
After the ceremony a live band played and made the floor shake with everybody dancing.

p.s. Jennifer Rand Walker who did a fabulous job with Kalli’s hair and makeup wins the award for toughest makeup artist of the year. She broke her big toe and ripped off her big toenail the morning of the wedding and still came through with great work. Check out her website!

Corvallis Wedding Venue: The Vue

A new wedding venue just opened in Corvallis and it is amazing. Really there is no place like it in Oregon until you get to Portland and even then the sleek modern feel of the building is very intimate and just plain fun. I think it will be a great place for Willamette Valley weddings for years to come.

The Vue certainly lives of to it’s name as it has a beautiful balcony that over looks Corvallis. Combine the wonderful facilities with the fact that Epic Day Spa is located in the same building and you have a perfect wedding facility all in the same building. Because both The Vue and Epic Day Spa are new businesses I arranged to do a quick photo shoot to show off their facilities. All the bridal dresses were generously provided by The Bridal Gallery in Salem.

We started off with the girls having pedicures and manicures while they enjoyed champagne and a lunch platter.
Then off to hair and makeup and putting on their dresses.

One great feature about The Vue is that they have built in LED lights in the ceilings that change colors and can really add to the atmosphere.

Featured Wedding Venue, Paradise Springs, Monroe Oregon

As we roll into 2010 I’m going to be featuring some of my favorite wedding venues on the blog. The above video was taken at Kim and Cedric’s August 2009 wedding.

Shooting at Paradise Springs is like discovering a hidden gem. Tucked into the back hills of Monroe Oregon, the wedding venue has very warm and inviting feel. The first thing you’ll notice is the amazing woodwork. I love all the beautiful timbers that went into the buildings. Not only can bridal parties have the reception hall, but there is a full house that is available to get ready in. The house makes a great backdrop for those pre-ceremony pictures, and also adds a great measure of convenience.

The ceremony can be had under a large gazebo with views of the cascades in the distance, or if the weather turns the reception hall can also make a beautiful ceremony site as it has windows in almost every direction that pour in natural light.

Lastly, Amy and her staff at Paradise Springs are wonderful to work with. Their commitment to providing Brides and Grooms with the wedding of their dreams is evident in the great care they took in building their facility. They’ve created the perfect Oregon venue for a mini-destination wedding. It’s a place where you can get away from it all, but not have to to travel half way around the world to get there. In a word, it’s Paradise.
